At the beginning of the month, I was chatting with the team about the idea to make a seasonal greeting image for Christmas and the New Year of 2022. Got blessed by the two windows available to grab enough data. And here it is – a Holiday Blending of the NGC2264 “the Christmas Tree” region.
The final image shows the result of the LRGB & HSO blend. The bluish background comes from the O-III data. H-alpha data shines at enhancing the Fox Fur region and the details at emission cloud edges. The O-III channel also adds an effect of a misty belt surrounding the tree…
